Delete your Amaroo account
Amaroo is a pet-care marketplace for pet owners and sitters in Indonesia. You can ask us to delete your account and the personal data attached to it at any time, for any reason. This page explains how to do it, what is erased, and what we keep.
Deletion is permanent
Your account is removed straight away. It cannot be undone, and support cannot bring it back — a new account starts empty, with none of your old bookings, chats, or reviews.
How to request deletion
The fastest way is from inside the app — it runs immediately, with nobody in the middle:
- Open the Amaroo app and sign in as the account you want deleted.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Delete account at the bottom of the Account section.
- Read the summary, type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete my account.
You are signed out on every device the moment it completes.
If you no longer have the app
You do not need to reinstall anything. Email [email protected] from the email address on the account, or tell us the phone number it was registered with, and ask us to delete it. We verify that the request comes from the account holder before we act — that check is what stops someone else deleting your account — and we complete verified requests within 30 days.
What is deleted
- Your name, email, and phone number
- Your profile, photos, and pet profiles
- Your emergency and vet contacts
- Your saved payout and refund details
- Every device you are signed in on
Your identity documents were never held by us: for sitter verification they stay with our verification partner, and your bank details stay with our payment provider. Ask those providers directly if you want their copies removed too.
What is kept, and for how long
Your bookings, payments, reviews, and the messages you sent stay on record, with your name replaced by “Deleted user”. They are also the other person's booking history and the transaction record we are required to keep, so deleting your account anonymises them rather than removing them (Terms and Conditions, Section 17.2). The person you booked with can still read the messages you sent them. Chats and location data are still deleted 6 months after each booking ends, as they are for every account.
One more record notes that an account was deleted, when, and by whom. Your email and phone are kept in it only as a one-way hash — never the raw values — so we can answer “was this account deleted?” if you or a regulator asks us later, without holding your contact details in readable form. If a sitter account was suspended when it was deleted, a one-way hash of its national ID number is kept as well, and that number is refused if it is used to verify a new sitter account. We keep these for as long as we need them for fraud prevention and our legal and tax obligations.
Two exceptions are worth naming plainly. If you asked for a one-time login code just before deleting, that code can survive until it expires a few minutes later. And files you uploaded are not yet purged automatically from our file storage: your profile and gallery photos stop showing anywhere in Amaroo, but a photo you sent in a chat stays visible to the other person until that chat is deleted. Ask us and we will remove them.
When deletion is refused
We refuse — and delete nothing — while money attached to your account is still moving: a booking under way, a refund owed to you, a payout on its way to your bank, earnings you have not withdrawn, or a cancellation fee you have not repaid. Deleting then would remove the bank or refund details that money is waiting to be paid to. Settle it, or wait for it to land, and the deletion goes through. A booking request where no payment was ever started is not a reason to refuse: it is simply cancelled. Once a payment has been started, wait for it to be paid or to expire.
